The Ultimate Hope Jumping Out of the Ocean—My Whale Watching Experience

Hey guys! In this page, I want to share with you my wonderful experience of whale watching and my thoughts after this travel.

During the summer vacation, I went to Yilan and Turtle Island with my family, and we participated in a whale watching tour. Actually, we had joined whale watching when I was about 13 years old, which is an unforgettable memory in my childhood, and now, after all these ups and downs in my life, I have become an adult, who is still screaming when the dolphins jump out of the water.

My family were seasick, so they stayed at the lower deck, and I went up to the upper deck with my sister. I supported her on board because the waves were large just like last time.

After a while, we arrived at the Milk Sea, which is known for its gradient milky white and sky-blue colors of ocean surface. The guide told us that the high-temperature sulfur springs merge with the sea water, so the sea surface shows a lighter color, extending all the way to half of the Turtle island coastline. It’s so magnificent and breathtaking that I felt like entering heaven!

Through long-time sailing far from the turtle island, we still couldn’t see any dolphins coming out of water, and the captain told us we should turn around and go back. I remembered everyone on the ship looked disappointed, but my sister and I still had some faith. We believe this was not the end.

We still seriously sought any shadows of dolphins with some people, and then, at that moment, one person screamed out loud and said there it is! The guide sat on top directed everyone, and the surprising voice came from everywhere on the deck! I looked at my sister and saw the smile on her face. We saw groups of the shining creatures jumping out when we almost gave up, just like we were kids 6 years ago!

I have always been a pessimist since I was a kid, but when I grew up, I gradually realized that we must have some hope in our mind. Sometimes we may not reach our final goal, but we must believe that good things will happen in the future, just like dolphins jumping out of the ocean!

(This is my aunt's painting. The whale is jumping out of the desert, representing she overcame the cancer and was reborn few years ago. This meaningful painting will always be my favorite.)
